  2.          INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION ABOUT MEALMATE:
  3.  
  4.          It is the  intent of DO-DAT INDUSTRIES to provide software so
  5.          user friendly that no manual is required.
  6.                    Some hints, however,  are in order. Do not use this
  7.          disk without first making a backup copy. Think of it as an IQ
  8.          test. No backup and you flunk.  Insert a blank disk and enter
  9.          the following dos  command: format /s then insert  this  disk
  10.          and enter the  following  dos command: copy *.* b:   Obey the
  11.          prompts. Put your original disk  in  a  safe  place away from
  12.          heat, electric wires, speakers etc.  It is an  excellent idea
  13.          to write protect  your  copy  unless  you  intend  to use the
  14.          append feature.
  15.             MEALMATE does not understand punctuation marks!!!!!!!!!

  17.          When prompted for a food name follow the following guides:

  19.          whole milk  NO!
  20.          milk, whole NO!
  21.          milk whole  YES!
  22.  
  23.          juice, pineapple NO!
  24.          pineapple juice  YES!
  25.  
  26.          green beans NO!
  27.          beans green Yes!

  30.          If your entry is not found MEALMATE  will  display  a list of
  31.          foods with similar spelling.  If no foods are  listed  try  a
  32.          different way of naming the food.  It is to your considerable
  33.          self interest not  to  use  the append feature unless you are
  34.          absolutely sure of your data.   Note  that at most prompts an
  35.          underline is displayed which indicates the longest entry that
  36.          MEALMATE will accept at that point.  In particular,  the food
  37.          name is limited  to  14  characters.   If  you  get  a little
  38.          frustrated with the format of data entries there is no reason
  39.          why you should not copy down the  data  of the existing entry
  40.          and use the append feature to add it to the data  base  under
  41.          whatever name you  like.   For those of you not familiar with
  42.          the concept of food exchanges,  within a given food group any
  43.          two foods having equal exchange value times quantity  may  be
  44.          swapped with no   effect  on  nutrition.   This  program  was
  45.          targeted to the 10 percent of our population who are diabetic
  46.          as the only  source  of  complete   nutritional   information
  47.          readily available for glucose level control but  is  of value
  48.          to anyone who  must  or  wishes  to precisely control intake,
  49.          even the fat broad next door.   It  is  consistent  with  the
  50.          guidelines established by the American Diabetes  Association,
  51.          the American Medical        Association,       WeightWatchers
  52.          International, and the Grace L. Furgenson Aluminum Storm Door
  53.          and Fat Control Monday Night Fellowship Society.

  64.          a copy of your license or diploma and send it  to  me  at the
  65.          below address. Medical professionals are hereby authorized to
  66.          give, free of  any  charge whatsoever, copies of this package
  67.          to "at risk" persons. For those  patients  who  do  not own a
  68.          computer, DO-DAT provides  a  service,  for  a  fee  of  five
  69.          dollars any TWO recipes or meal lists will be analyzed. For a
  70.          fee of thirty  dollars a printed copy of the data base sorted
  71.          alphabetically will be     provided.      Suggestions     for
  72.          enhancements and new  entries  for the data base  are  wildly
  73.          encouraged.
